How to enter Photography

Please read the following carefully.  The Association reserves the right to reject entries which do not comply with the entry specification.

Entry Specification 


The maximum number of photographs which may be entered is five. 


Entries can be in colour or monochrome, must be mounted on stiff card, and must not be framed. 


The minimum size of mounts is 20cm x 25cm and the maximum is 40cm x 50cm.  Mounts should be clean and presentable. 


Judging and Trophies


All entries will be judged by an independent photographic judge.  Certificates will be awarded at the discretion of the judge.  All entries will be judged. 


Trophies are awarded in the following categories


  • WIldlife or Nature: The Graham-Jones Trophy, donated by Mrs Myra Jones
  • Land or Seascape: The John Hedger Trophy, donated by Mr & Mrs Trevor Hedger
  • Monochrome: The Mandarin Bowl, donated by Mrs Dorothy Newsome
  • Creative: The Wareham Camera Club Cup, donated by Wareham Camera Club
  • Open: The Dorchester Camera Club Cup, donated by Dorchester Camera Club

Entrants must indicate on the entry form the category in which they are entering their work.  


Every effort will be made to display all entries, but if space should prove to be limited, the Committee reserves the right to select for Exhibition.

Please remember to complete both copies of the form with all the information required.


Column 1 - Enter 'PH'


Column 2 - Enter the Category code:

A - Wildlife or Nature

B - Land or Seascape

C - Monochrome

D - Creative

E - Open


Column 3 - Leave blank


Column 4 - The title/description of the item (max five words).


Column 5 - The selling price (including 20% commission) or "NFS".  If the column is left blank it will be assumed that the item is not for sale.


Column 6 - Leave blank


Labelling your Work


Each entry must be clearly labelled on the back of the mount with the followng

Full Name (of the artist submitting the work)

Entry Number (shown on part 2 of the entry registration form)

Title (of the work)

Code (for the category in which the work is entered)
