Interested in learning something new or developing your skills?  Some members of the Association provide tuition through occasional classes or workshops, or through longer courses.

Painting and Drawing                                                                                                                                                                              

 

Anita Law offers painting and drawing tuition at The Dewlish Chapel, Dewlish, Dorchester on Tuesday and Saturday mornings.   

 

Learn to paint or draw, or improve your skills.  All abilities welcome, including complete beginners.

Penny Wilton workshop

 

Penny Wilton offers painting and drawing classes and workshops at venues in Dorset and beyond.    

 

These include tutored life drawing classes and Art from the Heart - a day of creative painting and drawing suitable for any standard, even if you have never painted before.  

 

Penny also runs monthly workshops at Holt Village Hall - come and paint what you like in any medium and Penny will give tuition throughout the day.

Smocking and Dorset Buttons                                                                                                                                       

 

 Rosalind Atkins workshop

Rosalind Atkins holds regular workshops teaching the heritage crafts of smocking and Dorset button making, from beginners level to more advanced, and varying from a 2 hour session to a full day.  

 

She is also willing to travel to teach groups at their own venue if preferred, please contact her for further information.

 Anna McDowell Dorset Buttons

 Anna McDowell of Henry's Buttons runs Dorset Button workshops at the Hardy's Birthplace Visitor Centre.  She also runs workshops for clubs, societies and groups, and offers individual tuition. 

 

Anna has experience with making the whole range of Dorset Buttons, including High Tops, Dorset Knobs, Birdseyes, and those worked on a ring.  Workshops range from beginners to master classes for those with more experience.

Weaving                                                                                                                                                                             

 

Karen Erlebach scarf on loom 

Karen Erlebach teaches tapestry weaving and multi-shaft loom weaving for beginners and improvers.  She also gives talks on weaving to groups. 

 

Tuition is in her weaving room in Poole, and is usually on a 1-to-1 basis for multi-shaft weaving or maximum of 2 for tapestry weaving.  Workshops can also be arranged for groups at their own venue.
