The British Sugarcraft Guild (BSG) was formed in 1981. The Guild aims to promote and stimulate interest in sugarcraft as an art form, and to share knowledge and skills, develop talent and improve standards in a happy and friendly atmosphere. Wessex Branch is affiliated to the Guild and this gives us access to accredited demonstrators and entering competitions in exhibitions -which are judged according to BSG guidelines.
Wessex are a group of enthusiastic sugarcrafters of all abilities, from beginners to the more experienced, who meet monthly. We have a very keen group of Cygnets, aged from around 7 to 18, who meet monthly on a Saturday morning and do some excellent work while having a lot of fun. We are delighted to welcome new members and visitors to both groups.
Formed in 1989, this year we celebrate our 30th Anniversary and we are pleased to have the opportunity to show you some of our work, including a “Branch Table” which we entered at a Competition and Demonstration Day, organised by Region 6 (Southwest) of the BSG. We were delighted to achieve a GOLD standard award.

Poole Bobbin Lace Circle (PBLC) was established in 1982 by a group of lacemakers. The vision of this group was to promote the knowledge and history of bobbin lace as well as to provide an opportunity for lacemaking friends to meet, work together and exchange ideas, information, patterns and inspiration. Over the years PBLC has flourished and today there are about eighty members.
Our theme for the exhibition will be ‘Treasure the Past…. Embrace the Future’, our aim is to show that bobbin lace making is still popular and has moved on from doilies and antimacassars!
If you would like to know more about the craft of Bobbin Lace please go to our website Poole Bobbin Lace Circle.
We are pleased to feature the work of Wimborne Camera Club as our invited Guest Exhibitor in the photography exhibition room.
Wimborne Camera Club was founded in 1960 and is proud of its local history and community links, including with the Town Council. We are a friendly club of about 75 members and we meet on Monday evenings between September and the end of April in Colehill.
We extend a warm welcome to all, particularly visitors and newcomers. Our ethos is to encourage our members to further their photographic skills by providing as many opportunities as we can for learning and improvement, and we have a busy and varied programme of activities, including talks, social events and friendly competition.
More information including our programme and examples of members’ work can be viewed at www.wimbornecameraclub.org.uk which also has a portal for any enquiries.
