To celebrate its 50th Anniversary and to showcase the skills of its members, West Country Embroiderers’ members have created panels which illustrate features of the South West Coast Path. The 166 stitched panels, along with county markers and a map of the South West coast will be displayed consecutively so that the viewer has a ‘visual walk’ along the coast path from Studland in Dorset, through South Devon, Cornwall and finishing on the border of North Devon and Somerset.
We are delighted that WCE have chosen Showcase 2023 as one of just four venues where this unique work is being displayed.
West Country Embroiderers was a not-for-profit organisation established in 1973 to promote the skills and knowledge of all forms of textile work across the counties of Cornwall, Devon and Dorset. Autonomous groups operated independently under the WCE umbrella. Sadly WCE has now been wound up, although many of the groups still exist and have relaunched themselves under new names.
Parkstone Camera Club comprises a group of enthusiastic individuals with a shared interest in photography, who are keen to meet and mix with others to share, and hopefully further, their skills and photographic knowledge.
The Club was started back in the 1970s and has maintained a following ever since.
Newcomers with all levels of experience, from beginner to professional, are always welcome to come along and share in our activities.
From September to May, meeting times are from around 7.15 for a 7.30 start on a Wednesday evening and are held in the Church Hall at Church of the Holy Angels in Lilliput Road, Lilliput, Poole BH14 8JX and are also held online using Zoom.
If you would like any further information please contact us at chair@parkstonecameraclub.org.uk or just come along to one of our meetings. Please visit the Club’s website for details of our current programme of events.
