This guest exhibition by a number of talented artists and craft workers shows the variety of different ways wood can be worked to produce stunning items. All the contributors work and live in Dorset, taking inspiration from their surroundings.
The nine artists are Trevor Ball – Wood Turner, Tim Clayton – Marquetry Boxes, Don Coward – Sculpture and Stick Maker, Andrew Dumolo – Furniture Maker, Tilia Holmes Pyrography and Oil Painter, Selwyn Holmes – Laminated wood, John Martin – Toy Maker, Rod Pattinson – Luthier, Peter Thomas – Wood Turner.
Dorchester Camera Club was founded by a small group of enthusiasts in 1936 and now, with a thriving membership of nearly 100, has become one of the most successful clubs in the Southwest and in the UK. The club meets weekly on Monday evenings in the Brownsword Hall Poundbury and occasionally via Zoom. New members are always welcome, whether beginner or experienced, with the first three meetings free.
The club runs a varied programme including talks by members and visiting speakers covering a wide range of subjects such as landscape, nature, travel, portrait, monochrome, street, sport and creative. There are also competitions (both print and digital), show and tell events, critique evenings, exhibitions, mentoring, workshops, field trips and social events.
The club also has a number of specialist groups meeting regularly for those interested in nature, street, landscape, creative techniques and members wishing to obtain photographic distinctions.
