The Dorset Wood Shed

Working from Dorchester, I source much of my wood locally, drawn to timber with distinctive character and natural variation. My practice combines woodturning and carving, with each piece evolving through a dialogue between tool and material.

I’m particularly interested in the features often seen as flaws—knots, burrs, wild grain—and use carving to frame and elevate them. Patterns are not imposed but discovered, designed to complement and reveal what already exists within the wood.

The result is a collection of one-off pieces that celebrate the raw beauty of timber, shaped with care and respect for the material
