Sign up as a Steward

Please book your stewarding sessions here.   The chart shows how many stewards we still need over the five public days, colour coded to see where the need is greatest.

Find out what’s involved below.

To book your sessions, select a time when you can help and add it to your basket.   Repeat this for all the sessions you would like to do.   Once you have added all your sessions, move to the checkout page.  Add your contact details, then click the “Place Order” button.    Don’t worry, there is nothing to pay, this just allows us to capture your details.   You’ll receive an email confirming what sessions you have booked.

We also need help with Setup and Closedown – sign up here

Thank you for your help – we couldn’t run Showcase without you.

Choose your stewarding shift(s)

You may opt for as many shifts as you wish.   If you wish to steward for a full day, please select all shifts and we will ensure you have breaks during the day.

Our volunteer stewards are vital to the success of Showcase.

We have stewards positioned throughout Showcase: in the sales gallery, the competition galleries and within the public areas to answer questions and help visitors find their way around.

You may find yourself helping a visitor to purchase an item in the sales gallery, or encouraging them to cast their votes for the Visitor Choice Awards.

You could also be asked to help at a workshop, supporting the workshop tutor.

We also ask you to keep a watchful eye on the exhibits; there will always be support for you if you have any concerns.

The shifts are one or two hours, depending on the time you choose.   We’ll make sure there is cover if you need a comfort break.

If you are unable to stand for any length of time, there are some roles where you will be able to sit down.   Please let us know when you book your shift and we’ll make sure we allocate you to a role you can cover.

If you are available for the whole day, please book all four shifts and we will make sure that you have a lunch break and some time to look round.

Volunteers are covered by DACA’s Insurance.   You can read details of DACA’s insurance cover here.

If you have any questions, or need to give us more information, please contact the steward coordinator on chiefsteward@dorsetartsandcrafts.org
